What Is E-Rate?

E-Rate is a self-funded, non-governmental program whose sole focus is to help non-profit public and private primary and secondary schools offset their existing costs for internet services and equipment through the Universal Service Administration Company (USAC) mandated by the FCC in 2014. In 2023 there was $4.768 billion in collected funds set aside specificly for non-profit schools and libraries.

Non-profit schools and libraries receive 20%-90% back on their monthly internet service bill, recurring managed services, internet hardware, licenses, and more. For a full list of eligible services & hardware types, reach out to us or visit USAC’s website.

Everyone who pays for internet service, pays a “USAC Fee” on their bill each month. This fee goes into a pool of funds that is specifically set up to reduce the internet connectivity expenses for all non-profit schools and libraries in the nation. However if a school or library does not partake in the E-Rate program, they pay into the funding without reaping the benefits from its intended use.
